Training

Our training begins with the very young dogs.
That means for Silvia, my wife to go for a walk and a playful puppy to prepare for future use.
Now we look forward to the muscle, the importance of this is the correct feeding.
In winter we put on a short trail for Puppies and let them run free on the snowmobile.
So as soon as possible, we create a positive image of the things we expect from them later.

I train after I used up a lot of training car, preferably with a quad. Here I particularly value the control that I have on my team. So always try to learn from mistakes and give the dogs the next time a positive experience.

The dogs then have more fun and will then run much faster because they feel safe.

I’ve done in previous seasons the experience that it does no good to the dogs to run wide on hard paths without snow.
So for me race between 27 km in Europe and 35-45 km in Alaska.

So I’m going home only a few times 12oder 14 km required.
The snow training is in addition to the basic training the most important. I know not every musher has the opportunity to complete an extensive snow training. But the burden on hard paths is for the dogs, especially to the musculoskeletal system, much harder and I think that 10 km correspond to a hard surface about 17 kilometers of snow.

You should also never ask for too much in training, the dogs have to do anything much. If loss of motivation can be seen, one must first think, why? Too hot, too long, too much stress in kennels, poor feeding, injury, exhausted? There is an explanation for everything and a solution if you detect the error. That is what we have to learn musher to continue to improve.
Not the ambition of the Mushers must be the training goal, but the fun of the dogs and prepare them for their tasks perfectly.

It is important to take time, dear 1 km to train less but it let the dogs run free and good times even superior to what any dog has shown today. The store should think and what you do more of it.

One is in the race just as fast as the slowest dog. There is no point to push a handful of super dogs in the team ever, if one or two already hanging on the ropes. These dogs need to build and move forward to make it better then ever. Maybe he just needs time in a smaller or slower team to develop. For a good dog it is always a sensible place. A bad racing dog is possibly a super-private dog for an amateur athlete or the family. You should never, in everything they do with their dogs, lose the shine and the fire in the eyes of their friends, either in training or in the race.
